Principal's Welcome

Dear Cherry Avenue Families:

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!  Our dedicated faculty and staff provide for a positive and nurturing environment, while promoting active learning and academic excellence.  Thanks to the devotion of staff and parents, students are afforded opportunities to reach their individual potential, focusing on both academics and social growth.  At Cherry Avenue, we value the importance of treating others with respect, in particular following The Golden Rule and Sayville STRIDES, as well as demonstrating resilience and perseverance.  

As a school, we recognize the value of fostering a strong home-school partnership and encourage ongoing communication.  We also believe there is much to gain by focusing on a "back-to-basics" approach, by incorporating some "oldies but goodies" in our school and family life.  Too often we are consumed with technology, stress, and everyday life that we lose sight of simply living and what matters most - human interactions and being present in the moment. 

Thanks to an overwhelming amount of support from our devoted and caring parents, staff, PTA, and generous downtown community, our students are provided with many enjoyable cultural arts events/activities and a memorable school experience.  Please consider joining the PTA and serving on committees.
