Helping at Home

1. Have your child count as much as possible. (For example: Set the table and have them count plates, silverware, napkins, etc. Ask them questions like, How many more? How many were left?)
2. Practice addition and subtraction to 10.
If you have two crayons and I give you three more, how many will you have altogether?
3. Discuss the numbers on the clock and teach them the hours.
4. Teach your child to dial the phone. Make a phone book with them and include numbers that are ok for them to call. Grandma, Aunts, Uncles, your cell phones...etc.)
5. Practice writing their first and last name using upper and lowercase letters.
6. Set aside a few minutes every day to go over the sight words. Make it a daily routine and stick to it. Add more words as we learn them in school or as you teach them to your child at home.

7. Read together at bedtime. Maybe a book that they can read to you and then one you can read to them.
